About Lady Antebellum
Lady Antebellum has won the hearts of country music fans nationwide.
The group formed in 2006 with Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley.
Dave and Charles both grew up in the Augusta area and graduated from Lakeside High School in Evans. They eventually moved on to go to school at the University of Georgia before moving to Nashville and meeting Hillary.
The group signed a record deal with Capitol Nashville in April of 2007. Their second album, Need You Now, has sold over five million copies internationally and won five Grammy awards.
The group has won six Grammys total and their self-titled double platinum debut album and triple platinum second album have lit up the music charts.
Lady Antebellum's third album, Own The Night, came out in September.
The two-thirds homegrown band played before 3,100 of their closest fans for the dedication of the new Evans Town Center Park on Oct. 28. The 17-acre, $3.5 million park in Evans was finished in 2011. Its amphitheater is named the Lady Antebellum Pavilion and Josh Kelley Stage in honor of the group. Tickets for the show sold out in about three hours.
"For Lady A to come back and to celebrate this homecoming and allow us all to be a part of it, it's just a win all the way around," said Laurie Ott, president of The University Health Care Foundation.
The majority of the ticket sales will go toward University Hospital and band member Charles Kelley's father's legacy, The Dr. John Kelley Cardiovascular Endowment.
"To have it benefit Dr. Kelley's endowment which will help us help more heart patients really is tremendous," Ott said. "They really remember where they're from and they want to come back and contribute and that really speaks well of their character and their upbringing and their generosity of spirit."
The majority of the proceeds will go toward Dr. Kelley's endowment, but a good chunk will also go -- at band member Dave Haywood's request -- to the GHS Children's Medical Center.
