AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- Attorneys pushing a long-awaited settlement over how to parcel out James Brown's estate have filed a motion to remove trustees.
The motion released by attorneys Monday accuses court-appointed trustees Adele Pope and Robert Buchanan of doing little to protect Brown's estate and legacy, as well as failing to file an adequate inventory and appraisal.
Calls to Pope's office in Columbia, Buchanan's office in Aiken, and to their attorney were not immediately returned Monday.
The motion also would permanently remove three former trustees. David Cannon resigned last year amid allegations he misappropriated thousands of dollars from Brown's accounts. Buddy Dallas and Alfred Bradley also resigned, but have filed a lawsuit to be reinstated.
