COLUMBIA CTY., Ga. -- Several brush fires in Columbia County have fire investigators reviewing recent data to see if there is a pattern.

Jeremy Wallen, spokesperson for the Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue, says they are looking at all their information on recent fires to see if there is any type of pattern to the fires. They have had two large fires, one of over 20 acres and one of over 40 acres in the past week. While there has been no serious injury or damage, they could have been much worse.

The recent fires are incendiary in nature which means they were set by persons or machines. They are not saying they are arson. They have not come to any conclusions.

They are asking if anyone has seen anything to contact the Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue at (706) 863-7745.
