Augusta, Ga. --- A two-hundred year-old downtown Augusta neighorhood wants to reclaim its historic value and restore its orginal beauty.
Residents who live in the historic Harrisburg community who are trying to make it a better place to live. Organizers of the Harrisburg Initiative are committing themselves to rebuilding and growing as a stronger community by attempting to revert it back to the beautiful safe community that they can be proud of. That is Rev. Kelly McKnight's goal as Pastor of Bible Deliverance Temple.
He wants to revitalize the Harrisburg community, a neighborhood plagued by prostitution,poverty and drugs in some parts.
He is determined to make a change.
Michael Weintraub lives at the Mercy Ministries, a boarding house in the area.While some neighbors are concerned about the shelter but Weintraub says the shelter is not the problem.
Through education and meetings - McKnight and Weintraub are both hoping to bring together a diverse group of people from all economic backgrounds in order to build a better future.
