AUGUSTA, Ga.---"I feel like this is just my chance to go and get it," said Latasha Williamson. She is a mother of two who is finding it hard to make ends to meet.

"It's been rough...job hunting...searching around with the market the way it is. It's been difficult," said Latasha.

But things are looking up. The city celebrated the grand-opening of Teleperformance. It's a 2 billion dollar company bringing more than 300 jobs to the area.

"I got to go for it. I got to go for it. It ain't nothing to it but to do it," said Latasha.

Latasha is one of many who stopped by to fill out an application, and then there were 3 classrooms full of at least 30 people training to go to work helping Well-Care's medicaid members.

"We all know that in the south we have the best customer service. They found it...customer service and expertise all in one," said Shearice Hilton who is site director.

There are 150 workers already at their desk, and their is plenty of room for expansion. This current facility is about 55,000 sq ft, and we're not using nearly that much right now, said Hilton.

"We hope this is just the beginning here in Augusta," said Brent Welch who is CEO of the company based in Paris, France. So why Augusta?

"We found the right facility. We found the right labor market. We found an abundant labor market," said Welch.

"Why not Augusta? Augusta health care medicine it's huge, and so prevalent in this area with the working knowledge already here this the ideal place," said Hilton.

So at time when Latasha and so many others like her are feeling the pinch of a strained economy how does this sound?

"As long as you have excellent customer service skills and a will to work hard we welcome you to come and apply," said Hilton.

The starting salary $8.00 dollars while in training...$9.00 once you get on the phones. The company is located behind the Augusta Mall at 2807 Wylds Rd. Extension. You can also give Teleperformance a call at 706-729-6854.

I applied to Teleperformance a month ago and no one has called or send emails stating that the position has been filled or they are seeking other candidates. If you call the front desk the receptionist will now tell you that if your qualifications match thats the only way they will call you. When you go into the office that tell you they will call or send an email. So I'm supposed to just sit around and wait for them to get there act together and now I hear that they are overstaffed, and sending employees home with no pay for mandatory time-off..no wonder they aren't hiring anyone else right now, and if the building is in that bad of condition with health concerns they are going to have some big lawsuits on their hands!!!! Very unprofessional and unorganized!! What a waste!

I am one of the people that teleperformance want hire they came acting like they were going to hire anybody and everybody. They are lying about they will hire you if you are a good worker they only hire certain people. They make it sound easy that they are hiring and you can come get a job I am upset about this. And I am sorry about the people who work there and they are doing them wrong.Something should be done about this.

Dear 12 on my side,I saw your segment on teleperformance woes and wanted to insure you, that Shearice Hilton was lieing to anchor Chris Thomas. The woes are not only sending workers home when they have a garunteed 40 hr.contract with teleperformance, but also allowing them to be subjected to mold spores, which are growing on soaked ceiling tiles that were never removed from the recessed ceiling. This OSHA violation has sent several employees to university hospital emergency room for expensive x-rays and meds. These spores are being circulated throughout the job site by the A/C ductwork.Teleperformances break room and bathrooms are also in deplorable condition at all times and creating health issues.

I agree with the other comments posted. The working conditions are terrible at teleperformance. They are still sending people home and there is mold and mold spores in the building due to leaks when it rains and not removing the wet ceiling tiles, they were pushed up in the ceiling and covered up with the new ceiling tiles. Several people have gone home sick from the mildew and mold spores. This has been brought to managements attention on more that one occassion. There is also bugs in the building flies, nats, and etc. There is a lot of favortism,There is rules and regulations, but only certian ones have to follow it. Also when sent home for this mandatory time off it is without pay and points put against the employee. When hired the employees were guaranteed 40 hours at at certain pay rate and had to sign the offer for employment. Please investigate this company more. Thank you.

I agree 10000%. The employees at Teleperformance are not being treated right at all. TOO much favors and lot of overlooking certain ones dress code violations, etc. Way too many chiefs walking around with attitudes. The building has made so many ill with respiratory problems due to mold growing in the wet ceiling tiles that were not removed when the leaks come(everytime it rains). Water in the floor for someone to fall, nasty breakroom and bathrooms. Flies, nats, and other flying bugs inside building. Mandatory time off, they call VTO,voluntary time off??? If not enough call volume why so many, many employees on the floor and more coing in a week or two??? Makes no sense to do the people of Augusta this way and then get on TV and lie to cover up. This place needs to be investigated, talk with the employees, get the city involved.

Teleperformance is OVER STAFFED and sending people home due to NO CALLS coming in to the center. Last week, this week and next week people are being sent home "Mandatory Time OFF" We have bills, children to take care of, Lots of us had this job back in January and waited till June 2008 to train and now look what is happening. They have training classes still waiting to get on the phone "BUT NO CALLS COMING IN" Why hire so many? This is a HUGE LET DOWN !!!
