AIKEN -- After being laid off from his job in March with a family to take care of, Robert Goodahl and his business partner Lee Newman founded Swampfox Media.

When Goodahl's story first got out, he and his partner were in the process of designing the first line of comic books.

In order to get physical copies of three books: Compendium, Heralds & Heretics, and No Rest For The Wicked, Goodahl and Newman produced a video for the online fundraising site, Kickstarter.com. Through the site, they set a goal of earning $800 in donations surpassed that amount by over $200.

However, Goodahl and Newman were not the only ones excited about this accomplishment. Goodahl's wife and children were pleased to see him accomplish a goal that seemed farfetched.

Goodahl and Newman said they are taking some innovative approaches such as including local bands and artists to produce soundtracks for their projects and using QR codes to give smartphone users the opportunity to download exclusive content onto their phones.

The two will be debuting their first line of comics at the October 2011 Comic Convention in Manhattan. For more information on the publishing company and to stay updated with their progress, visit their website.
