Some people are wrapping gifts now, but most are still out looking for the perfect one. While many believe black friday is the busiest day for holiday shopping, it's actually the Saturday before Christmas.
Damian Wise, is one of the many last minute shoppers at the Augusta Mall. And while he's still looking, he's ready to buy for the most important people on his list.
"I need to pick up some gifts for my mother and uh.. my kids. So, I'm here now trying to make it happen" said Wise.
While Wise is trying to make it happen, across town, Virgil Lynch is doing the same. He just hopes his kids don't forget what the holiday is all about.
"Just trying to make this Christmas as joyous and as happy, while making sure my kids understand the real reason for Christmas" said Lynch.
While many celebrate and buy during this holiday. One thing is for sure, parking is hectic.
"The traffic is very heavy... It has been very heavy. Uh. It's rough getting a parking spot. But you know the earlier you can get out here, i guess the earlier you can get out" said Wise.
To help forget the parking nightmares, many department stores are trying to make the shopping experience more enjoyable. JcPenny's offers check out via an ipod.
"Mobile devices are what we use, to check customers out throughout the store. Check them out on the floor, as well as at the cashier's, to try to reduce the line." said David Angell, a manager for the department store.
Academy Sports brings more help in and extends its store hours.
"We offer more days of extended hours. We open at 7am till midnight. And that was proven successful." said Ken Fehrenbach, the store director.
Longer hours means more money for stores and less money in Wise's pockets.
"I would say over budget... Ha, i would say over budget."
