PERRY, Ga. (AP) -- A Houston County couple is accused of starving
their 2-year-old son to death and has been indicted by a Houston
County grand jury.

Sade Shamon King, 23, and William Thomas Davis III, 25, were
being held Tuesday in the Houston County jail without bond. They
are charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of
cruelty to children and two counts of aggravated battery.

Sheriff's investigators say the D'Shawn Davis weighed 12 pounds
and 6 ounces at his death. An autopsy ruled the toddler's cause of
death as malnutrition.

Houston County District Attorney Rabb Wilkerson says the
groundwork has been laid for the death penalty to be sought in the
case, but a decision on whether to move forward will not be made
until after the Nov. 2 general election. Wilkerson is seeking
re-election.

It dosent matter if parents received any type of benefit from the state(Plenty of ppl receive assistance and dont kill their kids)....Whats most important is that a life was lost because of igorance. I hope the parents get the same treatment they put upon their child

i am not at all surprised by this but i am saddened...until the government stops making it so easy for these deadbeat dads AND MOMS to get government assistance people will keep having kids with no clue how to raise them....and women always saying..."it takes two..blah blah blah" so untrue-i as a woman know my body is capable of producing a child so if i cant support one financially, physically, and emotionally i could care less what the man wants cause i am not having one--women need to start taking more responsibility for their decisions so these poor children(such as in this case)can stop suffering!! i know that child is in a whole lot better place now than when he was on this earth and maybe the jail these awful parents are put in will consider the same type of punishment...maybe let 'em miss a meal or two or three or however many it took to put that poor child in the morgue!!!

Putting off an obvious decision on if this case deserves the death penalty by the judge until AFTER the election he hopes to win, is a cheap political move to try and straddle the fence and one the judge may lose more than sleep over come Nov.2nd.
