Firefighters continue to battle Aiken church fire

Aiken County-- Dispatch has confirmed that fire crews are heading back to Hayden Baptist Church after receiving a call from a church member.

A member of the congregation called around 6:00 Wednesday morning and said that the flames had rekindled.

The Couchton Fire Department believes it will not be as serious as the previous fire. News 12 was told there are no plans to call on fire crews from other cities.

Fire crews previously battled a fire at Hayden Baptist Church on Hayden Rd near New Holland Rd. in Aiken Co. when dispatch received a call around 7:00 Tuesday evening.

Authorities said that some parts of the church were collapsing and they had to request more manpower at the time.

The cause of the fire is unknown at the time.

It is also unknown if there are any injuries from the fire.
