DAWSONVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Dawson County officials have identified a 10-year-old boy who died after being hit by a personal watercraft on Lake Lanier as Conor Tierney of McLean, Va.
A Department of Natural Resources team is investigating the accident, which happened Wednesday on the Chestatee River arm of the lake in Dawson County.
DNR and Dawson County Emergency Services responded to a call following a report that a juvenile had been hit by a watercraft.
Officials say the victim and his 13-year-old brother were riding separate personal watercraft when the accident occurred.
Dawson County Emergency Services battalion chief Milton Keller says an adult and several children were able to pull the child out of the water onto a boat dock.
The boy was airlifted to Scottish Rite Hospital, where he died.
