SUMTER, S.C. (AP) -- Two children who clung to life for several days after an apartment fire that authorities say was set intentionally have died.
The Sumter Item reported that 10-year-old Aalyah Jackson and her 11-year-old brother, Robert, died Saturday from injuries they suffered in the fire Tuesday.
Authorities say the children were at home alone when emergency officials responded.
Charged in the fire is 52-year-old Timothy Donald Dingle, whom authorities say was the boyfriend of of the mother of the children.
He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and first-degree arson.
Authorities say the charges could be upgraded.
