The following poem was written by Billy R. Arrington of North Augusta.
It could never happen here
Not on the soil of America
Now our bitter taste is fear
Our freedom has been threatened
And innocent blood was shed
So many senseless victims
And Lord so many dead
Our hearts cry out in pity
And compassion rules our souls
America’s heart is broken
Never again will it be whole
For a way of life has vanished
We’ve lost something clean and pure
For our safety is in jeopardy
We no longer feel secure
Our hearts cry out for vengeance
We will surely make you pay
For the blood you spilled upon us
We will hunt you down some way
Lord bless the brokenhearted
Lord heal us from within
And guide our every footstep
And bless America, once again
