Police work to relieve holiday traffic congestion

'Tis the season traffic is moving at a snail's pace...especially around shopping centers. Police have been working to relieve congestion ever since Thanksgiving, and that will continue to be the goal until the day after Christmas.

Richmond County focuses on unsolved homicides

Homicide cases are up this year. There have been 19 of them, with just two weeks to go in 2006. Last year, 15 homicides were reported in Augusta. But this year, only two are unsolved. That's an arrest in 85 percent of cases.

Man wanted in downtown shooting

Deputies are looking for 28-year-old Cornelius Wright, wanted for murder. Investigators believe Wright shot 22-year-old Mitchieano Carmichael at a mom and pop store in the 2000 block of Broad Street.

Train derailed in Jenkins County

A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed about seven miles south of Millen, Georgia at 9:45 this morning. 22 cars went off the track. Fortunately, there were no injuries and no hazardous materials.

The H.E.A.T. is on for the holidays

Portion of Augusta Canal drained for maintenance

Man arrested in Doublegate murder

21-year-old Seth Joseph Rouzan has been arrested for the murder of Jeffrey Labord on December 12. Labord was found by a paper carrier around 5 o'clock Tuesday morning. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.
