EVANS, Ga. -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who stole an iPhone at a gas station in Evans earlier this month.
The victim said his 10-year-old daughter put the phone on a counter at the Circle K on Washington Road while she made a drink and sat her stuffed animal on top of it.
The victim and his daughter were less than 10 feet away when the thief grabbed the iPhone and put it in his pocket. The man then bought gas and drove away.
The thief is described as a heavyset white male in his 30s with short brown hair. He has not been identified at this time.
The victim says his daughter uses the phone to contact him when he is deployed overseas.
