AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is looking for leads in a sexual assault case that happened Thursday morning.
The victim was walking on Eve Street at Walker Street when a black man pulled up and offered her a ride around 8 a.m. He said he was an off-duty police officer and showed her a gold star badge.
After the woman got inside the car, he drove her to Hicks Street Lane and demanded sexual acts. When the victim refused, he assaulted her with a handgun. The man allowed the victim to leave the car after the incident.
The man is said to be heavy set, is between 35 and 40 years old, has a clean-shaven face and was wearing a black T-shirt and dark gym shorts. His car is said to be a 90s model standard cab truck with a two-tone gold color.
