NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- A North Augusta woman is facing charges after confessing to abandoning her 9-year-old child at the park while she worked.
Debra Lynn Harrell, 46, admitted to the Department of Public Safety that she would leave her child at the park alone while she would go to work. A witness contacted police after she repeatedly saw a young girl alone at the park each day.
When approached Monday, the child told officers her mother always dropped her off before work.
Harrell was contacted and confessed, according to the report. She was arrested and booked for unlawful conduct toward a child. DSS has taken custody of the child.
