Woman accused of keeping 85-year-old father in 'very poor' conditions

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A woman has been arrested and is accused of keeping her 85-year-old father in unfit conditions.
Deputies were called to the home on the 2000 block of Ellis Street for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found the living conditions to be "very poor."
Carolyn Brown, who lived at the home, was the primary caretaker for her 85-year-old father. Deputies say her father was in poor health and was not being properly cared for. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Department of Family and Children Services and Richmond County Code Enforcement also responded.
Brown was arrested and charged with one count of cruelty to person(s) 65 or older.
