AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW)----A former presidential candidate is headed to Augusta during Masters Week. Herman Cain will be speaking at a fundraiser for mayoral candidate Helen Blocker-Adams.

Many are asking if Cain can tip the election for Helen Blocker-Adams or will this move hurt her campaign. "I am an independent. I based my vote on the person and not the party," said Helen Blocker-Adams.

Herman Cain is a regular on Fox News. He's a radio show host and former Republican Presidential Candidate.
Cain's coming to town for Helen Blocker-Adams.

"We got a $1 from some people and $5 from others. We needed a splash and Herman Cain is a personal friend of mine," said Blocker-Adams.

Some on social media have been critical of that decision. Herman Cain canned his bid for the White House after accusations of sexual harassment came up. A short time later another woman came forward claiming she had a 13-year affair with the married man.
Cain has denied any wrongdoing.

"I have no idea what happened. He says he didn't and I have to take him at his word," she said.

Dr. Anthony Neal teaches Political Philosophy at Paine College. He says in local politics people normally vote for who they know.

"Being that it is a non-partisan race, I think having Herman Cain to come and speak for you does peg you as a Republican," said Dr. Neal.

Helen Blocker-Adams goes on to say that the people who have a problem with her bringing Mr. Cain to town were probably not going to vote for her anyway.
