AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Could you handle a three-hour interview for a job? That's exactly what Ron Huck, a candidate for the director of Parks and Recreation, went through. We talked with city leaders on exactly what they're looking for.

"What are your plans if your are given this position? What are you going to do to enhance the lives of our young people," said Commissioner Bill Lockett.

"We're looking for somebody who is a leader. We're looking for somebody who can move beyond the status quo," said City Administrator Fred Russell.

Houck could be that somebody. He's in the hot seat interviewing for the top spot.

"It was invigorating to share the story and vision for our department," Houck said.

He has worked for Parks and Recreation for a while. Houck says he's ready to take the department to a new level.

"We're going to be about doing the right thing for the right reasons. We are going to be about our people both internal and our workforce," he said.

''I think the candidate certainly displayed a certain since of confidence because he's been in our system for many years," said Commissioner Donnie Smith.

This is the city's second time trying to fill the position. Months ago, a potential candidate turned down the spot. For the next few days, city leaders are interviewing four men for the title of director.

All four candidates will interview with the city administrator. Then, the candidates will be grilled by other city department heads and face the Augusta Commission.
