WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Waynesboro Police department has made multiple arrests in connection to gang activity in the area.

Officers were called out to Magnolia Acres on Monday night to break up a fight between Tacorey Lakes, a member of the Orchard Boys, and Alshumar Hankerson, a member of the Jersey Boys.

A second fight happened between the two gangs soon after at the 6th Street park and left one man with a head injury. Alshumar Hankerson was found by officers in a semi-conscious state. He told officers he was wrestling with a friend and had hit his head on the curb. He was taken to the hospital and released the next day.

Investigators learned the fight was traced back to a January 2012 fight between the two gangs.

On Tuesday, members of the Orchard Boys allegedly went to Windy Hill apartments wearing masks and holding guns and handguns. A driver saw the teens and called the police. Officers stopped the gang members and questioned them, but they were released.

Later that night, members of the Orchard Boys allegedly went to a home in the Pecan Grove Housing community and banged on the door asking for Hankerson. The woman who answered the door said 15 to 20 black males were at the door and threatened to shoot her. She says she ran into the house with her 4-year-old as the gang fired shots. No one was injured in the incident.

The following teens were arrested and booked into the Burke County Jail on street gang involvement charges:

  • Nakie A. Hankerson, 17
  • Alshumar Hankerson, 19
  • Anthony L. Dixon, 18
  • Shaquan Hines, 19
  • Khalid Kedar, 18

The following teens have pending warrants:

  • Royrecacia A. Walker, 18
  • Tacorey Lakes, 17
  • Ty Owens, 18
  • Tavares D. Washington, 18
  • Alvin Jenkins, 18
  • Rontavius Cooper, 18
  • Shaurd Miller, 18
  • Mack Cooper, 19

They are facing charges including terroristic threats and acts, battery, criminal trespass, criminal damage to property second degree and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"We will not tolerate this kind of activity in Waynesboro. We are doing everything possible to thwart gang activity and violence," said Chief Alfonzo Williams in a news release. "... The gang members are using social media to spread their messages. We are not going to tolerate their tweets or violence in our streets."
