Vinyl LPs make their way to downtown Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Vinyl records are making a comeback.

City leaders held a ribbon cutting at Psychotronic in downtown Augusta on Monday. The store sells records, CDs and magazines.

The vinyl LPs are coming full circle. All oldies from Kiss to Earth, Wind & Fire and Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

Michael Weldon is the store owner and comes to Augusta from east New York.

The store is one of six to recently open in downtown, which has city leaders are excited.

"We are getting ready to start a very strong retail strategy. The Weldons came to us because they had purchased the building next to Luigi's," said Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Margaret Woodard.

"We like to take risks. I've always taken risks. So far, so good," Weldon said.

Weldon says to set the record straight, vinyl LPs are back and here to stay.
