AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- The search is on for multiple suspects in an assault that the victims say stemmed from a denied kiss at a party in Aiken.
One of the three victims said they were at a party on Good Hope Farms Road early Sunday morning when a man tried to kiss the second victim and was rebuffed by the third victim.
That's when one of the victims says the man walked back to the party with six more men, who hit the victims' vehicle before they were able to get inside. Two of the men were said to be carrying handguns.
The victims were eventually able to get into the car. According to the incident report, one of the victims was driving but didn't know how to use standard transmission, so she stalled out the car, which is when the victims say the men, who were in a reddish orange Ford truck, cut them off and blocked them from escaping.
One of the victims says he jumped out of the car to try to switch places with the victim who was driving and got punched in the head by one of the men. The victim says he was able to get in the car and drive off, but not before the men were able to damage his car. A bottle was thrown at the car, which shattered the rear window.
According to the incident report, the men followed the victims all the way to the state line before the men turned off at exit 1. The victim who was driving dropped off one of the other victims at a residence before heading to the Pilot Travel Center.
Law enforcement in Georgia advised the victim who was driving to head to the I-20 Welcome Center on the South Carolina side and call 911, which is where he met with deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
According to the incident report, when asked why they did not call 911 while being chased, one of the victims said it's because he figured he would get pulled over by police on the way to Georgia because of the way he was driving.
Two of the victims said the men involved in the incident were all white males between 18 and 22 years old and that they had never seen them before. According to the incident report, deputies were not able to get in touch with the third victim.
