AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A jury has acquitted a man in a robbery turned murder from 2012.

Verdre Scott Junior was accused of murdering Martez Davis in December 2012, even though Scott was not the one who actually fired the fatal shot.

Deputies say Scott and Davis were attempting to rob James Gibbons, Jr. when during the armed robbery Gibbons was shot. Gibbons returned fire, hitting Davis.

Scott was the one charged with felony murder, though, not Gibbons.

This morning a jury acquitted Scott of murder.
