AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW)
Last week officials there confirmed that three patients died, in part because they were not granted access to preventative care.
Now the Georgia democrat is calling for a congressional hearing in an effort to find out what went wrong and who should be held responsible.
"What has happened at the Charlie Norwood VA is totally unacceptable. We have a responsibility to provide the best care to our nation's veterans, and clearly, that did not happen. I've requested a Congressional hearing to get to the bottom of what has happened, and to ensure it does not happen again," says Barrow.
The congressman tells News 12 that he met with hospital director Robert Hamilton.
Hamilton told us last week that no on person was to blame for the deaths.
"We must hold the personnel responsible for these missteps accountable, and I'm committed to ensuring veterans get the best care possible in the future," says Barrow.
