AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) - One of the teens hit by cars on Gordon Highway is making a recovery at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Devontae Sims, a student at Murphy Middle, was sent to the hospital April 13 after being hit by a car that sped.

In that same incident 14-year-old Zykeith Harris was hit and killed while the two teens were attempting to cross the busy street.

The hospital says Sims is in fair condition at this time. Sims' aunt and legal guardian told News 12 it will be months of recovery for the teen, who she says can barely walk and talk.

She said the two teens were over at another aunt's house, and their expected ride had car trouble. She said that's why Sims and Harris were walking home.

Meanwhile deputies are still trying to find the cars involved in the hit-and-run. Deputies said they are looking for a Toyota Corolla with a missing emblem and gold trim and a dark Chevy Impala.
