EMANUEL COUNTY, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned deputies have caught one more of the six inmates who escaped from the Emanuel County Jail on Sunday.
One was caught early Sunday and two others were caught Sunday evening. The fourth was caught early Tuesday morning.
News 12 has learned the men escaped from the jail around 11 p.m. Guards do hourly rounds and discovered six were missing.
Emanuel County Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens says the men were able to escape after a small door that goes in a maintenance plumbing chase was left unlocked. Crews left it unlocked on Friday during repairs. The inmates were then able to escape out of the roof.
Stephens says they are not believed to be armed but most likely will not be in their orange jumpsuits.
John Stephen Powell was the first to be taken back into custody, which happened around 10 a.m. Sunday.
Eric Lashawn Barney was caught around 6 p.m. Sunday. The sheriff says a friend picked Barney up from an abandoned home and someone spotted them and called 911.
Dante Jamial Latimore was caught Sunday around 7 p.m.
Cecil Dewitt Nelson is a federal inmate, originally from the Savannah area. He was caught late Monday night.
Most of the inmates have been sentenced for burglary and property crimes, but Matthew Shepherd Findley, who is still missing, is a murder suspect.
