TALIAFERRO COUNTY -- News 12 has learned portions of I-20 were shut down earlier this evening after two people have died after an accident.
Three vehicles were involved in an accident happened along mile marker 147. Our reporter on the scene says a car carying two people hydroplaned and crossed the median, hitting a utility truck. An 18-wheeler was also involved in the crash.
One man and one woman were pronounced dead, but their names have not been released. Two people inside the utility truck were transported to an Athens hospital, two others were treated at the scene.
The accident is causing a major traffic back ups and one of our News 12 reporters says traffic was re-routed.
