Two pedestrians hit, killed by train in Allendale County

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW)- Fairfax Police Chief Marvin Williams confirms that two individuals are dead after being hit at a train crossing by an oncoming CSX train.

One of the victims was in a wheelchair and the other was pushing the wheelchair before getting hit by the train, according to police.

The scene of the incident is at U.S. Highway 278 and 6th Street in Fairfax.

The names of the two victims have not been released.

A team of CSX investigators from Augusta were on the scene late Wednesday afternoon to reconstruct the accident.

News 12 spoke with several business-owners in the area who witnessed the accident.
