AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Trinity Hospital of Augusta is now designated as a Level III Trauma Center by the Georgia Department of Community Health.
According to a news release, the designation will allow the hospital to provide trauma care to patients in the community as well as Georgia Regents Medical Center. Georgia Regents Medical Center is the only only facility designated as a Level I Trauma Center in the CSRA.
“Through our collaboration with Georgia Regents Medical Center, we felt that becoming designated as a Level III Trauma Center would improve access for patients in our community with less acute trauma injuries. It is our hope that other hospitals will also seek such designation to improve the trauma network in the state of Georgia," said Trinity Hospital President and CEO Jason Studley in a news release.
According to the news release, this designation will help provide "faster assessment, resuscitation and stabilization of acutely injured patients through a site team inspection and documented policies and continual monitoring of performance improvement measures."
