UPDATE: Train derailment causes road closures in downtown Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A CSX train derailed some cars in downtown Augusta, causing road closures Thursday morning.

The following intersections were closed:

  • 12th and Walton Way
  • 11th and Fenwick Street
  • 10th and 9th near Fenwick Street
  • 7th and Fenwick Street
  • 6th and Fenwick Street

The roads were eventually opened back up later in the morning.

There is no word on what caused the derailment at this time.
