COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Thurmond Marina will be temporarily closed for three weeks starting on May 14, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers J. Strom Thurmond Lake Office said.

They said boaters and anglers may use nearby boat ramps at Cherokee Day Use Area in Lincoln County and Keg Creek and Wildwood Park in Columbia County while the Thurmond Marina is closed.

Contractors are removing underground storage tanks on the site. Access to the boat ramps will be obstructed while work is ongoing. The marina will be re-opened for public use as soon as possible following completion of the work.
