Thursday, May 29, 2014

AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW) -- We have received reports of a man calling people saying they won the lottery but first, they need to buy a green dot card to claim her prize.

A local woman got a call from a man going by the name of James Anderson from Jamaica. The phone number is 876-852-5454. She did not buy anything and reported the scam.

Even someone at News 12 says they got a call from Jamaica saying they won Publisher's Clearing House. The number that call came from is 876-646-5719.

There have been past reports of a person calling and saying they are with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. They tell you that you have missed jury duty and there is a warrant out for your arrest. They say you need to buy a green dot to pay for the fine.

If you get one of these calls, contact the Columbia County Dispatch Center at 706-541-2800.
