AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Godfather of soul lives on through his music, but he also lives on through kids who play his music.

The JAMP group will perform at the official after party for the Augusta Get On Up movie premiere July 24. News 12 spoke to the raising stars and to James Brown's daughter about this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Godfather of soul may be gone, but his music is alive and well. Nigel Henderson and Samantha Johnson are in the group of rising stars who will perform for the movie stars coming to Augusta July 24 for the "Get On Up" movie about soul brother number one.

Deanna Brown and her dad's family foundation raise a lot of money to make not only music apart of these kids lives, but also education.

"My father told me one time you put an instrument in a child's hand and you will make a miracle and I've seen that happen," she told News 12.

Brown says the excitement of the premiere is fantastic and the $100 for both the movie and official after party is truly an investment.

"Understand where it's going, who it's benefiting. These young children," she said.

So, as Deanna jams to her dad's music she says she's only doing what he taught her, which was don't forget where you come from.
