AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The TEE Center held its very first citywide event this weekend.

"They've got it set for a general session -- and kind of pretty much just used every single ... corner, every inch," said Barry White, president and CEO of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau.

It's much-needed space for the TEE Center's very first citywide event.

"That's the reason this city invested in this building, so that we could host events and conventions and meetings that are larger than we could host before," White explained.

A space that now allows thousands to visit the City of Augusta.

"[This group is] utilizing five hotels ... probably more," White said. "[It's] 2,600 people and we're thrilled to have had them in town this weekend."

Helping to bring in thousands of dollars in just one weekend.

These first lucky takers? The popular beauty line, Mary Kay, for its 2013 Career Conference.

"I love the fact that it's Mary Kay ... because with Mary Kay, we know they're here," White said. "A lot of pink cars were driving around the past few days and you see the ladies everywhere."

Augusta Marriott officials say there are about 20 large citywide events confirmed on the calendar this year, which stands to bring in more than $10 million dollars -- continuing to help put Augusta on the map.

"Oh my God, it's so beautiful!" said Kathryn Pitts.

Pitts has been to several Mary Kay conventions over the years and says she's now fallen in love with Augusta.

"This place ... is so convenient for what we're doing," she said. "And it was so nice for us to be here, we're thankful."

"It's good to see that it was used and is being used for exactly what it was designed for," White said.
