NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- Hazmat crews are on the scene of a fuel spill after an 18-wheeler spilled fuel across a busy highway.
The accident happened just after 11 a.m. Tuesday on Edgefield Road just a short distance south of Interstate 20.
Officials said 8,200 gallons is being spilled into the road, and down an embankment, however, it isn't clear if the material is unleaded fuel or diesel.
Crews are using a foam substance to neutralize the impact of the fuel.
Highway 25 between Edna Street and Ascauga Lake Road is closed, as well as the I-520 connector, while the clean up continues.
