WASHINGTON, Ga. (WRDW) -- Crews are investigating a suspicious envelope that was found at a bank in Washington, Ga.
Wilkes County Sheriff Mark Moore says dispatch received a call at 2:09 p.m. from employees at the Farmers and Merchants Bank who noticed a white powdery substance.
The Washington Police Department and the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. A Hazmat team from Athens-Clarke County also came in to examine the substance.
The FBI is now the lead agency in the investigation.
Investigators are waiting on test results to come back from the lab.
