Suspects caught with stolen fireworks in Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- Officers arrested three people with a truck full of stolen fireworks on Wednesday morning, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office said.

Aiken Department of Public Safety officers stopped a truck on Powderhouse Road near Crawford Avenue for driving without headlights around 4 a.m. An officer saw the truck pull out onto the road from an area next to a fireworks business on East Pine Log Road.

After requesting help from the Sheriff's Office, one suspect ran away while the other two were detained. Petersons Fireworks, located on the 500 block of East Pine Long Road, reported a storage unit that was broken into.

Investigators arrested Allen Jackson, 24, and Lancy Cheatham, 24, after confirming the stolen items were from Petersons Fireworks. David Richardson, 26, turned himself in later Wednesday morning, the Sheriff's Office said. Each person was charged with breaking into motor vehicle and grand larceny.
