WAGENER, SC (WRDW) -- A toddler is dead in a suspected homicide. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has arrested the 2-year-old boy's stepfather, 34-year-old Leon Marquis Davis, with homicide by child abuse.

The child was brought in to Georgia Regents University Medical Center Pediatric ICU with a significant brain injury caused from blunt force trauma, according to the Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

The child was pronounced dead Sunday morning at 10:02.

Deputies said Davis was arrested at the hospital for three outstanding family court bench warrants.

On Sunday, they said they were told the child died from his injuries. Davis was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center.
