Richmond County Deputies have a suspect accused of running from deputies then jumping into the Augusta Canal in custody.

AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW) -- Richmond County Deputies have a suspect accused of running from deputies then jumping into the Augusta Canal in custody.

Deputies tell 12 it started with a vehicle chase, but the suspect took off running then jumped in the water near Jones St.

No word what led to the vehicle chase.
