AIKEN, S.C. -- Aiken Public Safety Officers responded to the scene of a structure fire in the Alley Tuesday morning.
The call came out around 5:30 a.m. Deputy Justin Goodwin was patrolling downtown and noticed the smoke. He traced the smoke to the area of Griffin's Pub in The Alley.
Crews responded to find smoke and flames in the kitchen of the pub. There was smoke damage to the businesses on either side of the location.
The area in between Laurens Street and Newberry Street had visible smoke and was crowded with Aiken officials.
Crews extinguished the fire and cleared the area by 8 a.m. We're told the Pub suffered extensive damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
There were no injuries.
