Car versus motorcycle crash on Huber Clay Road

Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- SouthStar EMS is offering to take the widow from the Sept. 12 motorcycle accident to her husband's funeral for free.

A costly medical transportation for Kathy Favors was in the way of her attending Daniel Favors' funeral.

The funeral is on Friday, and the family says anyone is invited. The family is hoping bikers will show up to escort the procession from Platt's Funeral Home in Downtown Augusta to Bellevue Cemetery. The family says bikers can arrive at Platt's around noon.

The family wants bikers to wear helmets, even if the law for a particular state says it’s optional. Troopers say the Favors were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

The family is also hoping to schedule another charity ride, and wearing helmets will be the chief message.

Here's the statement from SouthStar EMS:

"Our service is built on the line of compassion. Our 911 unit was dispatched on the day Mr. and Mrs. Favors were involved in the accident. We transported Mrs. Favors to GRU to receive the life sustaining procedures. In the recent days due to your broadcast, it has come to our knowledge the needs of the family.

Aiken County EMS employee Mrs. Howell contacted me to advise us of the situation of need. Through communication from you, we were able to get in touch with the family and help in their time of need. In our line of business we are granted the opportunity to help others and our community every day.

SouthStar EMS strives to show our patients with true heartfelt compassion and we are proud to be able to help this family in their time of need. The family has a long road ahead of them and we extend our condolences to them all."
