AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Richmond County school leaders say they are rolling out a new plan after findings show there's no visible mold at the Terrace Manor.
On Wednesday morning, at least six parents had withdrawn their children from the school.
Instead of class, third grader Kayla Washington is spent the day at home.
"Boom, boom, boom. My head was hurting like that," she said.
After complaining of headaches, her mom had to pick her up from Terrace Manor.
Emanuel Jackson was a third grader at Terrace Manor until his mother pulled him from the school Tuesday.
"It's like something's booming in my head," he said.
Donavan Jackson told News 12, "I went and withdrew my son, my niece and nephew. My son, the past month or two months, has been complaining of headaches on the regular, never had he ever had a headache."
The health scare is now pushing parents to pull their kids out from the school. Even after school leaders say there is no mold, the district is working up a study to find out what else it could be.
Parents say the nightmare isn't over and want to know what they are supposed to do with their kids in the meantime.
"Continuing visits to their primary care provider. Hopefully, they will help us track down the triggers," said Director of Student Services Dr. Carol Rountree.
Rountree says they are working with the health department and GHSU to do walk-throughs, surveys and even, "We're looking at unnecessary clutter in the building."
"I'm thinking about sending them to Bayville on Milledgeville Road," Jackson said.
Because Emanuel's mom says she is just not waiting around.
Rountree also showed News 12 a study which showed the number of students visiting the school nurse. The results were from the 2011-2012 year across all elementary schools. Compared to the others, Terrace Manor was low.
The school district says the mold is out of the question now and this test may be the last, but they won't give up until complaints have stopped.
