AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The victim was taken to the hospital and the suspect is still on the loose after a shooting in downtown Augusta Sunday night.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office was called to 2077 Ellis Street just before 11 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found homeowner 29-year-old Michael Antonio Martin Jr. with a gunshot wound in the hip.
Investigators say Martin was having a cookout when an unknown male drove up to the house asking for Martin. As Martin approached the vehicle, the unknown suspect began firing.
Martin was taken to the hospital for injuries, but they are not said to be life threatening.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark-colored hat with possible dreads. He is said to have been driving a grayish blue sedan.
