AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Sheriff Michael E. Hunt took over the Aiken County Sheriff's Office Facebook page to ask for the community's support.

Not all Aiken County Council members seem to be on board when it comes to raising the millage rate to give Aiken County deputies a raise. Sheriff Hunt spoke at the second of several budget workshops on Tuesday night.

"The Council understands that we have a problem and there's nothing more important than law enforcement in the county and we've got to do something to stop this turnover and become competitive," Sheriff Hunt said.

The sheriff says he's losing deputies all because of the difference in pay. The budget process still needs two more readings and a public hearing before it's final.

On Thursday, Sheriff Hunt used the department's Facebook page to ask for support.
