North Augusta searching for suspect after police chase

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- North Augusta Public Safety officers are looking for a suspect who ran after a police chase down Knox Ave.

Police say the car took off when officers tried to pull it over on Bradleyville Road. around 1:30 a.m. Authorities put down stop sticks on Knox Ave. and one of the car's tires blew out after it turned onto Atomic Road. The chase ended when the car stopped in front of a home on Carolina Springs Road.

One person has been arrested. Authorities say the passenger was arrested but the driver ran from the scene. A firearm was recovered in the car. Police are no longer actively searching for the driver, but he is still wanted for arrest. The Aiken County bloodhound team had been called out to help in the search.
