BURNETTOWN, S.C. (WRDW) -- The search team is looking for a man who disappeared at Langley Pond Wednesday evening.

In a morning news conference, Burnettown Chief David Paul Smith said they're looking for Byron Coleman of Graniteville. Although they are still unsure if Coleman is the potential drowning victim, his belongings were found onshore. His parents haven't seen Coleman since yesterday.

Smith says anyone with information on Coleman's whereabouts is encouraged to contact law enforcement or the news media.

Officials say a woman and two men were playing around in the water around 5 p.m. when one of the men started having trouble swimming.

Bystanders were able to take him out of the water, and he was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center. He was said to be in critical condition, but has since been released from the hospital.

While the other man was being rescued, Coleman disappeared. Witnesses say they did not see him go underwater or leave the scene.

The woman was able to get out of the water and is said to be OK.

Dive teams were out for hours on Wednesday evening until conditions became too dark to search. Crews are back out again Thursday morning. News 12 is told that visibility in the pond is about a foot.
