TRENTON, S.C. (WRDW) -- A school bus with 16 students on board was involved in an accident on Mosley Drive Thursday morning.
The students were heading to Douglas Elementary School in Edgefield County.
Five of the children had non-life threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals. Four of the five have since been released.
The remaining students were transported to school on another bus where guidance counselors were available to them.
The bus driver is said to have spotted a deer and gone off the roadway. No other vehicles were involved.
In keeping with district policy, the driver will be drug tested, but Superintendent Greg Anderson says he doesn't think this was a factor. The superintendent says the driver has been with the district since 1990 and ”is one of our best.”
