Car versus motorcycle crash on Huber Clay Road

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- On Saturday, bikers will gather to honor the life of Daniel Favors during a memorial motorcycle ride. The ride will start at 12:30 p.m. at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill in Beech Island (2510 Storm Branch Rd). Around 1:30 PM, riders will make their way to Bellevue Memorial Cemetery where Favors is buried.

"We like for the wind to blow through our hair, but now I will be first to tell you, if you're going to ride a bike, wear a helmet," says Kathy Favors, Daniel's surviving wife who was critically injured in the crash.

Kathy is doing better, but she's still making frequent trips to the emergency room. Though she's back home, she's now confined to a wheelchair, and she has metal bars in both her hips.

In September, a blue Chevrolet Silverado U-turned onto Huber Clay Rd. from a nearby county landfill.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the drivers apparently didn't see an oncoming Harley Davidson motorcycle carrying Daniel Favors and his wife Kathy Favors.

Favors thanks SouthStar EMS for the complimentary ambulance ride to her husband's funeral. She also thanks the medical companies that donated a wheelchair ramp and medical supplies.

The family has opened a memorial account to help pay Kathy's medical bills. Donations can be made at SRP for Daniel Favors (Account Number: 419892-61).

When: Saturday
Where: Starting at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill in Beech Island (2510 Storm Branch Rd) to Bellevue Memorial Cemetery.
