ATLANTA (AP) -- The first TV ad by Georgia Senate candidate Karen Handel features former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Handel, one of seven Republicans and four Democrats vying for the open seat, planned to begin airing the ad statewide starting Monday. The primary is May 20.
In the ad, Palin describes Handel as a conservative "who has walked the walk" and follows through on promises.
Handel has been lagging in fundraising but her campaign has reported a bump since the Palin endorsement.
Other candidates already airing TV ads include Republican Reps. Jack Kingston of Savannah and Phil Gingrey of Marietta, Republican businessman David Purdue and Democrat Michelle Nunn.
The race is one of the most closely watched this year as Republicans seek a majority in the Senate.
