GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW) – Some people living on a Graniteville street say that sand on the end of the street is becoming a big problem.
Lew Dill has lived there for the past 15 years and says it gradually has gotten worse.
“Every time when it rains it seems like washes off from the top of this hill and it settles right here,” said of the intersection of Hillview Drive and Ascauga Lake Road.
The sand is ankle deep in some areas and drivers say it’s causing them problems.
“If you don't watch your speed,” said Dill. ”You do have the potential to slide out into traffic.”
Drivers say that the sand is so deep in some spots that their back tires will spin, often times causing them get stuck while partially in the busy road of Ascauga Lake.
“You do have the potential to slide out into the road and cause an accident,” Dill said as it’s happened to him several times.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation says they have heard complaints about the intersection and are working on a solution.
